Tournament Mission
Educational programs supported by Swing for Heart Health are designed to increase awareness of inherited cardiovascular conditions, including familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) and elevated lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)], while promoting lifelong heart health for students from kindergarten through grade twelve.
Younger students are introduced to the importance of a healthy heart through age-appropriate lessons about nutrition, physical activity, and how healthy habits help their bodies grow strong.
Middle school students build a deeper understanding of cardiovascular health by learning how lifestyle choices, family health history, and inherited risk factors can influence long-term heart health. Students are encouraged to recognize the value of healthy habits and the importance of talking with their families about their health history.
High school students explore cardiovascular disease prevention in greater depth, including the role of inherited conditions such as FH and elevated Lp(a), the importance of early screening and diagnosis, and how advances in medicine and research are improving outcomes for individuals and families at risk of premature heart disease.
Programs are developed in collaboration with educators and healthcare partners to complement classroom learning while providing practical, evidence-based information that empowers students to make informed health decisions. By increasing awareness of inherited cardiovascular conditions at an early age, Swing for Heart Health supports the Family Heart Foundation’s mission to improve early detection, expand access to care, and help prevent premature cardiovascular disease for future generations.
